Dr. Rosny Daniel, 4th year resident and chief resident of the UCSF-ZSFG Emergency Medicine Residency Program, was one of three recipients of the Chancellor Award for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership presented on October 5, 2017. Rosny is being recognized for his tremendous contributions toward advancing diversity, equity and inclusion which include but are not limited to the following: (1) Founding member of the "Community Action Team," a division of UCSF's SNMA that provides opportunities to engage the Bay Area’s under-served; (2) Co-Chair and founding member of the UCSF-SFGH Emergency Medicine Diversity Committee; (3) Service as a member of EMRA’s Diversity Advisory Group; (4) Facilitator in the development and presentation of multiple didactic sessions aimed at fostering community and cultural awareness among UCSF medical students, faculty and residents; and (5) Attendee and panel member for multiple UCSF UIM dinner sessions. Rosny’s impact has not only left an indelible mark on our residency as evidenced by a resurgence in our residency Diversity Committee activity and demonstrable improvement in diversity among our residents, but also in the School of Medicine more broadly where he is a highly-regarded mentor for those who follow in his footsteps.
