As the field of emergency medical services continues to evolve, so do the needs of the communities it serves. The 2026 Prehospital Community Care Conference will convene EMS leaders, frontline providers, researchers, regulators, trainees, funders, and community partners from across California for a statewide symposium exploring how prehospital care is adapting to today’s most pressing challenges. Hosted by the UC San Francisco Department of Emergency Medicine and the San Francisco Fire Department, with support from the CARESTAR Foundation, this conference is designed to bridge the gap between research and operational practice by connecting direct providers, policymakers, and investigators advancing the next generation of EMS care.

Attendees will gain practical insights into innovative care models, quality improvement strategies, and emerging data that can strengthen patient outcomes and improve system performance. UCSF and its collaborators are helping shape the future of emergency care through clinical innovation, research excellence, and public-sector partnership. Envisioned as a recurring statewide research showcase and gathering, this event aims to foster lasting collaboration across agencies, institutions, and disciplines while advancing prehospital community care in California and beyond.
