The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, offers educational experiences for medical students, residents, fellows and physicians in practice. A four-year joint residency program (UCSF-SFGH), approved for 12 residents per year, began in June 2008. Our affiliated four-year emergency medicine residency program at UCSF-Fresno was founded in 1974 and has eight resident positions each year. Unique fourth-year sub-internships for medical students are offered by UCSF Medical Center, SFGH, and Fresno. An ultrasound fellowship, medical education fellowship, and clinical research fellowship are available at UCSF.
