The UCSF Department of Emergency Medicine offers a one-year Medical Education Fellowship with an optional second year for those interested in pursuing a Masters of Education from UC Berkeley. This fellowship is designed for graduating emergency medicine residents seeking advanced training in bedside and classroom teaching, curriculum design and evaluation, and medical education research.
Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in the spectrum of medical education from undergraduate medical education (UME) to graduate medical education (GME) as well as continuing medical education (CME). The Education fellows work clinically as attending physicians in the ED at UCSF Medical Center six shifts per month. The fellows also have an opportunity to participate in UCSF’s Pathway to Discovery Program in Health Professions Education as well as the American College of Emergency Physician’s Teaching Fellowship. Salary and benefits are set by the Department of Emergency Medicine and the University of California annually.
