Interesting Fact: I was delivered by my 3rd year OB/Gyn clerkship attending. I can still do a back handspring 15 years after quitting gymnastics. I once won a small Texas Hold’em tournament in Vegas.

Interesting Fact: All of my family lives abroad, except for my sister. I taught elementary school in Taiwan for a year before med school; it’s been the hardest year of my life to date! I’m writing this from Mozambique where today we saw two cases of cerebral malaria.

Interesting Fact: When I was 5 years old, I met the best soccer player in the world—Pele. I have surfed on a wave with a dolphin. I helped to start an adolescent substance abuse prevention program as a medical student at UCSF.

Charley Murphy

Interesting Fact: Only three things come to mind. First, I used to sell art door-to-door. Second, when I was 10 the original James Bond approached me and asked (in a thick Scottish brogue) “Is this your 9 iron?”…It wasn’t, but I was so star struck that I said yes and accepted the club. Third, I go by Charley. That makes my name Charley Murphy, the same as Eddie Murphy’s brother of Chappelle’s Show fame. If you like, you may call me “Darkness.”
