The Department of Emergency Medicine includes the following four sections:
Global Health
The Global Health Section promotes health equity by strengthening emergency medical systems and access to care for all patients through education, research, advocacy, and the provision of clinical care.
Medical Toxicology
The Medical Toxicology Section was developed to support the delivery of timely, high-quality emergency care across UCSF’s clinical sites while driving education and research within this medical subspecialty, both in the Bay Area and worldwide.
Social Emergency Medicine & Health Equity
The Social Emergency Medicine & Health Equity Section is a forum for faculty, trainees, and staff across all UCSF sites to engage in research, training, practice, and advocacy related to social emergency medicine and health equity.

Ultrasound
The Ultrasound Section is committed to advancing the scope and practice of emergency ultrasound and providing innovative point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) education.
