UCSF Department of Emergency Medicine Showcases Pediatric Research at PAS 2025

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, showcased its research and expertise at the 2025 Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting, held from April 24 – 28 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Our department was represented by numerous presenters from our Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, who delivered a total of 15 presentations on topics pertinent to pediatric emergency medicine featuring various co-authors from our department (full list below).

A team of authors featuring department members Drs. Rajesh Daftary, Ashley Foster, Anneka Hooft, Chris Baker, Ryman Crone, Le (Mimi) N. Lu, Sonny Tat, and Shruti Kant received the Best Project Award at the PAS Pediatric Readiness Showcase for their presentation, “Partnerships with Pediatric Academic Medical Centers: A Qualitative Needs Assessment for Pediatric Care in Northern California Community Emergency Departments,” which earned the Best Project Award. Co-authors outside our department included Sara Malakzay and Inder Narula. Presented by Dr. Daftary, the project explored the needs and potential collaborations between community emergency departments and pediatric academic medical centers to further care for children Northern California.

The annual PAS meeting serves as a platform for pediatric health professionals and researchers to exchange knowledge on recent advances and ongoing research. UCSF’s active involvement highlights its commitment to advancing pediatric emergency care through dedicated research and collaborative initiatives.
