School of Medicine Honors Multiple Department Members for Excellence in Teaching, Mentorship

Sixteen members of the Department of Emergency Medicine have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to teaching and mentorship through awards conferred by the UCSF School of Medicine. Of them, 13 are recipients of the 2024 Academy of Medical Educators (AME) Excellence in Teaching Award. Three others have been honored with the 2024 AME Excellence in Mentoring Award for UCSF Teaching Faculty.

These peer-nominated awards highlight outstanding front-line teachers (of learners) and mentors (of learners and faculty) across all UCSF teaching sites. Recipients will be celebrated at the annual Celebration of New Members event on September 11.


AME Excellence in Teaching Award

Criteria: These front-line teachers are "unsung heroes" who demonstrate their daily dedication to education and teach in a manner that creates an encouraging and intellectually stimulating environment that promotes critical thinking and learning.

AME Excellence in Mentoring Award for UCSF Teaching Faculty

Criteria: This award recognizes individuals who have shown commitment and dedication to mentoring, advising, and supporting others. It is intended to highlight outstanding accomplishments in mentorship among UCSF faculty who support and empower their colleagues and trainees in advancing their careers and achieving their professional goals.
