Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is licensed for 685 inpatient beds and is home to the UCSF Fresno Emergency Medicine Residency Program, which was founded in 1974 and is one of the first emergency medicine training programs in the country. It is a four-year emergency medicine training program featuring a strong emphasis on clinical teaching and hands-on training.

The large Emergency Department at Community Regional Medical Center is licensed for 86 beds and serves as the only Level 1 Trauma Center, burn center and comprehensive stroke center for the Central California region. It handles an annual ED volume of over 120,000 patients.
