Dr. Ellen Weber Appointed Interim Chair

Dr. Ellen Weber has been appointed Interim Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine effective March 1, 2013. Formerly Vice Chair of Faculty Development, she holds an appointment in the Department of Emergency Medicine and is an affiliate faculty in the Institute for Health Policy Studies at UCSF.  She has a superb record of department, school, and campus service and brings a wealth of experience to her new role.  Dr. Weber was born in Brooklyn, New York, and received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her MD from Harvard Medical School.  She moved to UCSF for her residency and has been on faculty since 1987. She holds board certification in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. She served for two terms on the Board of Directors for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.  Her clinical interests include all aspects of emergency care with an emphasis on respiratory and infectious diseases, and mammalian bites. Her research centers on utilization of emergency departments, clinical operations, and emergency department crowding.
