Clinical Toxicology & Pharmacology Elective

This four-week elective offers medical students the opportunity to develop the knowledge necessary to assess clinical problems related to the toxic effects of drugs and poisons. Students participate in case discussions about poisonings and drug overdoses and make follow-up telephone calls to hospitalized patients. The Clinical Toxicology Service is a function of the San Francisco Division of the California Poison Control System.

Please note that this two-week rotation does not count as a formal residency interview. Rotators interested in the UCSF-ZSFG Emergency Medicine Residency Program will still need to apply for a residency interview.

  • For information on applying to the UCSF emergency medicine rotations as a visiting student, please visit the UCSF School of Medicine's Visiting Student Program page.
