Thank you very much for your interest in the UCSF Emergency Medicine Clerkship Rotation (EM 140.01).
Students act as interns in the UCSF and ZSFG emergency departments where they evaluate and manage a diverse patient population with undifferentiated emergencies/urgencies. Students practice procedural skills and learn to recognize, resuscitate, & stabilize critically ill patients. Students work clinical ED shifts in a level 1 trauma center, interface w/ San Francisco Poison Control, & participate in weekly didactics.|| Comments: 4th year medical students only. For visiting students, please submit a personal statement (less than one page, <500 words). For May-October rotations, preference to those seeking a career in EM.
Visiting students may start applying to our EM clerkship rotation in VSLO on February 9, 2024 and our department will start accepting students on or before TBD 2024 with a rolling admissions process until all of the spots have been filled. We are accepting visiting students for the following blocks:
- July 1 – 28, 2024
- July 29 – August 25, 2024
- September 2 – September 29, 2024
- September 30 – October 27, 2024
Application Deadline for EM Sub-I Rotation (EM 140.01): April 12, 2024
- We recommend submitting your application as early as possible in March/April. Applying after the deadlines limits your chances of acceptance to our program.
- Please track the status of your VSLO application and ensure that your medical school releases your application to our program.
