Using quantitative and qualitative methods, along with community engagement, to examine racial and ethnic disparities in physical restraints among patients presenting to the emergency department with behavioral health needs.

Empowering Investment in Our Community: Growth & Expansion of the Discharge Navigator Tool

To develop, expand, and assess a novel discharge navigator tool that helps clinicians identify tailored community resources for patients based on their specific demographics and social needs.

Moving Equity Metrics from an Afterthought to the Forefront with a Hospital-Wide Sepsis Quality Initiative

Establishing multidisciplinary partnerships and examining outcome metrics using the Department’s Equity Dashboard to ensure that implementing “The Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock Management Bundle (SEP-1)" does not exacerbate health disparities.

Community-Based Development of an Expanded PsySTART Triage System to Include Firearm Screening

Using a community needs assessment (survey and key informant interviews) and stakeholder engagement to develop and implement a firearm screening protocol for youth 10-17 years of age seen in the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Emergency Department for assault.
